The Firearms Registry is one of the ways we're strengthening how we manage firearms and other arms items in New Zealand. It was launched after major changes were made to our firearms laws in response to the 2019 attack on Christchurch masjidain.

Licence holders in New Zealand are required to provide information for the Firearms Registry. Find out when you must do this for the first time, and when to update your information.

Licence holders are required to provide information about themselves and all arms items in their possession for the Firearms Registry.

You can record your arms items and update your licence holder details in the Firearms Registry online or over the phone. You will not be charged a fee.
